Welcome to the installation guide for SolidMeta Forge, where the magic of 3D optimization and real-time workflow automation is just a few clicks away – no camouflage required! Just like a chameleon adapts to its environment, our installation process is designed to seamlessly blend into your system, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free setup.
Prerequisites: #
- Confirm that you have a compatible version of Houdini installed on your computer.
- Ensure all running instances of Houdini are closed before you begin.
- User Registration at www.solidmeta.io. Solid Meta Forge needs the user credentials.
Installation Steps: #
- Download and Extract:
- Obtain the latest release of SolidMeta Forge from www.solidmeta.io
- Extract the contents from the downloaded archive file to your desired location.
- Install Forge:
- Execute the SolidMeta Forge Installer.
- Launch Application:
- If you haven’t done so yet, create an Account at www.solidmeta.io
- Open the SolidMeta Forge application:
- For example, Press the Windows Key and type “SolidMetaForge”.
- Use your Credentials to log in to SolidMeta Forge.
Configuration: #
- Settings:
- Go to the Edit menu and open the Settings dialogue in the application.
- Houdini Installation Path:
- Click the three dots button on the right side of the Houdini input field and locate your Houdini Installation (e.g., C:/Program Files/Side Effects Software/Houdini 19.5.569).
- Integrate the Solid Meta: Forge Environment in Houdini:
- Click the ‘Install’ button within the Settings to install the Solid Core Environment into Houdini.
Project Setup: #
- Project Creation:
- In the SolidMeta Forge application, create a new project or load an existing one.
- File Menu Item → New Project (Shortcut: CTRL+n) or Open Project (Shortcut: CTRL+o)
- In the SolidMeta Forge application, create a new project or load an existing one.
- Launch Houdini:
- Open your Houdini application (Click the “Start Houdini” item in the Tool Bar or load it directly or via the Houdini Launcher).
- Load SolidMeta Core Shelf:
- Click on the ‘+’ icon next to the toolbars above the 3D view in Houdini.
- Select the ‘SolidMeta Core’ shelf from the dropdown to load it.
- Activate SolidMeta Core:
- Click on the ‘SolidMeta Core’ icon on the shelf to activate the SolidMeta Core in Houdini.
- Access SolidSlim Node:
- In the Houdini Network View, locate and select the ‘solidslim’ node to bring up its parameters in the Parameter view.
- Connect to Forge:
- Click the ‘Connect to Forge’ button within the ‘solidslim’ node parameters to establish a connection to the SolidMeta Forge application.
